Ticker

Ticker

A news ticker is primarily a horizontal text-line display (news headlines) in the form of a graphic that typically resides in the lower third of the screen space on a television and continuously runs from left to right or right to left.

Types/Formats:

1.      Scrolling ticker

2.      Flipping ticker

 

 

1.      Standard Ticker

2.      Special ticker (a secondary news ticker placed above the standard ticker during certain special coverage)

With respect to Position 

1.      The upper bar

2.      Lower ticker

Number of bars/banners

1.      Single-band scrolling ticker

2.      Two-paned ticker or two banner ticker (that displays headlines in both English and Urdu)

Broadcast VS print headline To have an idea of what is similar and different in the headline writing conventions for the two media (print and electronic) There are key differences in how broadcast headlines and print headlines function.
