Globalization Defined:- 

        Globalisation is the process of interaction and integration among people, companies, and governments worldwide. Globalisation is not a new phenomenon, but accelerated since 18th century due to advancement in transportation and communication technology.

Local Culture Defined:-

       Local culture is all aspects of our life as part of a particular group with shared origin, history, way of life and sense of belonging to that particular group. The eminent Muslim philosopher Ibn-e-Khaldun is acknowledged as the first scholar to have defined culture and its impact in global sense. 

Causes and Impacts of Globalization on Local Culture

        It is a fundamental law of nature that every cause has its effects. Globalisation has no exception. An analysis of the phenomena of Globalisation shows that it has both negative and positive causes and impact on local culture.

       The following are the prime causes and impact of Globalisation on local culture:-

Cultural Causes and Impact:-

       All cultures have positive and negative aspects. Due to Globalisation every culture borrows good traits from other culture and quits negative sheds of its own. In this way a pleasant local culture develops. Globalisation has impacted cooking styles, languages, dressing and customs of almost every local culture. The same can be said about movies, musical styles and other aspects of art.

Economical Causes and Impact:-

       Economic factor plays vital role in human life. In search of economic gains people moved from place to place across the globe. Prior to discovery of America, trade remain restricted between Europe and Asia. However due to discovery of America called ‘New World’, Globalisation assumed a new dimension. Britain, France and Spain commenced colonization of North, Central and South America. It was an aspect of non-human Globalisation, because for economic gains local people were gradually perished and slaves were transported Africa for economic gains. In this struggle among colonial power the local cultures from America to Brazil, Argentine and Chile almost vanished the local cultures.

       In the colonial phase of Globalisation, powers like Britain and France occupied much of Africa and Asia, including Indo-Pakistan subcontinent. In Pakistan every local culture possesses impact of British culture.

Political Causes and Impact:-

       Before the present wave of Globalisation almost all developing countries were characterized by dictatorships. However, a country without democracy is regarded as unacceptable in world community due to impact of Globalization. Human rights violations, non-transparent  judicial system, deprivation of women’s right, etc, are unacceptable norms under today’s Globalisation.

Health Causes and Impacts:-

       Prior to prevalent Globalisation the developed countries gave priority to economic exploitation of poor countries. But a pandemics and plagues like Malaria, Congo Virus, Polio, Covid-19, etc, have become concern. Due to this reason the developed countries fully assess WHO to eradicate these ailments so that may remain safe. This has proved blessing in disguise for local cultures with continuous financial aid. For example, WHO makes full efforts to eradicate Polio from Pakistan and Afghanistan which are the only two countries in the world where this malaise exist.

Conclusion:-

       To sum up, life is continuous process. Human interaction at state and international levels has been taking place since recorded history. During the course of history factors and impact of Globalisation on local culture has aspects according to the time. So is the causes and impact of current Globalisation as detailed above.
